Wonga: Best of a bad bunch?

Its always annoying when someone posts along the lines of "do not use these companies they are scum". Most of us are well aware of the ups and downs of this type of loan, and we're generally looking for advice on the cheapest way to obtain cash for a period of time, and not the "advice" of "manage your finances better".
Along a different line, Wonga replied to my E-mail, which basically asked them to explain the reason behind the decline, and this is what they said... "Hi,Thanks for your email. Unfortunately each application is individually assesed so you are never guaranteed to be accepted for a loan. Kind regards, Customer Care "
Well, that clears that up then, doesn't it!?
As a bit of a 'social experiment', I decided to apply for £265 for 31 days. Low and behold, it was accepted. More than double the £118 I originally asked for. The following day I paid it back in full, and I won't use them again.

i fail to see why people use these types of companies, i think i'd rather save a few days rather than use those types of companies, who clearly pray on the poor and desperate
You honestly believe that an individual who is using these firms has the option to 'save for a couple of days' - you may want to consider carefully the contents of your posts before you actually hit submit.
Hypothetical Scenario: I am poor and desperate and have no money for food or bills and need to pay a bill at the weekend, I know, I'll take Kev.S advice and save for a couple of days, that will sort it out :rotfl:
I'm all in favour of offering advice, but lets make sure it retains at least a modicum of sanity0
