Congratulations on winning Slimmer of the Week, KITTY!
Yesterday was an NSD as Sammy successfully evaded the vet and is now going next week (the lady I want him to see is part-time). Today should be likewise and I'm hoping I'll be paid tomorrow as the 15th is a Sunday but it might not go in until Monday.
I made a Chicken & Leek Casserole in the SC yesterday so will be portioning that out and freezing it today. No more cooking needed this week, I think as I've got the things I need already made and frozen.
Dinner is a bit of Marinaded Turkey Breast (packaged but free for me as my parents bought three boxes of the stuff and then didn't like it!) and home made oven chips.
I'm actually really looking forward to starting the challenge again even though things are going to be very tight for a while.

Yesterday was NSD for me & also hopefully today, but Saturday will be a big spend day as I'm going to take advantage of the £5 off £30 spend in KLidl & fill my freezer so hopefully we won't have to spend hardly anything apart from fresh veg, milk etc for the next 6 or so weeks - well that's the plan anyway :j
not that it ever works like that :rotfl:0 -
Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie here, even tho Ive been reading the posts for quite a while.
I would love to join the Grocery Challenge for this month, if its not too late.
Normally I do a weekly shop every Wednesday.
Wed 4th - £70.00
Wed 11th - £60.00
My budget is £280 for a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 4 and 2.
I shop at Sainsburys, only because after trying all supermarkets I noticed almost no difference and at least with them I get my nectar points which right now are worth almost 20 pounds, should be more but a couple of months ago was a hard and I used 20 pounds. My shopping trolley is a mixture of basics, sainsburys and branded products. Whatever I can buy on basics I do but some things, mainly for the kids, such as yogurt, cheese and juice they wont eat basics
They dont understand brands, being so young, so I assume its purely a taste difference.
Ah, before I forget this amount includes everything.. food, toiletries, cleaning products, baby stuff, etc. I dont even dare going to my local shop lol0 -
Hi laisbojar83, and welcome! I'm fairly new on the grocery challenge too, but finding I'm saving loads so far.

Hi jayII, thank you
I am hoping to reduce even more my grocery expenses, maybe down to 240 lol
Ever since I started reading the posts back in January, Ive managed to cut my shopping bill from 400 a month to what it is now! A real shock.0 -
Well, I made the self saucing chocolate pudding last night, and it was delicious! Too delicious in fact, we both had huge pieces, and there is loads left (children were too full to have theirs).
I think I am going to have to limit desserts to once or twice a week, or my efforts to lose weight are doomed. :rotfl:
I love this thread, I have never spent so little on food, and we are eating so well. Thanks all.
Divine isn't itAnd, so, so simple. But it's the kind of pudding you should only eat about once every 6 months after you've burnt off the calories from the previous piece you had :rotfl:
I was only saying to my OH earlier in the week, that we are spending just over half of what I guess (and it was probably more) we were spending on food 9 months ago, but we are also eating so much betterSome of that is due to my having been made redundant and having more time on my hands, but even so, it's all good

That's a serious goal for 4 people!
Tell me about it! I used to spend over £550, and trying to get down to under £440....or as little as possible really, as we are totally skint.Every spare penny will go into savings for a house deposit, and to replace my car.

It is, totally delicious!:D I won't share my recipe for chocolate milk cake at the moment, to give us all time to recover.
I am the same, but I'm trying to build up a stack of 4 weekly 'easy' menus and shopping lists, so that we can keep saving when I find a new job. :T:T[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

How odd - that's how much I used to spend on food - well, about £500 I reckon for 4 adults, but the odd shops for bits and pieces, I'm sure took that up to £600
I'm now aiming for £275 - came in at £299 last month, but it was my first month of properly keeping a tally, and I'm very pleased with that!It is, totally delicious!:D I won't share my recipe for chocolate milk cake at the moment, to give us all time to recover.

I'll hold you to that! Lately, I have days where I remember diddly squat, but I never forget anything to do with chocolateAug11 £193.29/£240
