I've just got my tape measure out and according to that guide i'm around a 4 on my left foot and 3.5-4 on my right foot which I don't think is right (although I had to try and squash my toes down on the 'good' foot to try and get it accurate!) All my shoes apart from a couple of pairs are 5, so I can't see them suddenly being that much smaller. I won't risk ordering different sizes, i'd rather wait and try some on.
I don't know if this is apparent or not(& if it is, please don't think me patronising!:o) the measurements Birkenstock give are for the length of the footbed of the shoe for each size. When measuring your feet, always add the extra 1/4" at the front & at the back needed for 'movement' before looking at which size you need.
Also, if you appear to be different sizes on each foot, always go with the bigger of the two.
And you're not alone, everyone has one foot bigger than the other!:D0 -

I'm hoping the weather stays good as mules are the only footwear I can get on and the consultant said it could take 9 months for the swelling to subside! I used to wear ballet style shoes and found my heels very painful in them for some reason, but the Cays seem to have sorted that problem.
Hope you manage to find something suitable :-)
Eek, that doesn't sound good =/ I ditched my crutches completely a couple of weeks ago so i'm hoping I shouldn't be too bad when it comes to walking properly (I can't wait to drive again!) I take the boot off when I get home and can walk on the foot, but it's difficult as I can't bend the foot properly.
I had some pain last week so went to the doctors and my skin had rubbed away on the side of my foot so no wonder it hurt! She re-dressed it, but it's been hurting again today so i've taken all the dressings off this evening and am hoping some air will help it. It's not nice
and is in a bloody awkward place for any shoe now...aaaaaah!missingink wrote: »I don't know if this is apparent or not(& if it is, please don't think me patronising!:o) the measurements Birkenstock give are for the length of the footbed of the shoe for each size. Hmm, if I add a bit i'm still inbetween sizes which doesn't help!
I actually had my feet measured properly last year (I worked for a company that designed/made shoes) and they came out at 5 and 4.5 which is what I expected, hence why I am a bit surprised by these measurements as I doubt very much I am a 3.5!
I went into Schuh today and had a look at what they had. There were only a few pairs of Birkenstocks on display and I didn't have time to have a proper chat with anyone, but the ones they did have seemed really light in weight which I didn't expect. I tried one shoe on and the strap hit right where I don't want them to so they're no good.
I will have another look when I have more time though as they do look good.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Schuh are very limited in the styles that they carry so you will probably have a lot of trouble finding something that suits your condition there. At least you had a look at some 'in the flesh' & kind of know what to expect. You just need to find the right style, size & price now!:rotfl:0
