My sister and I both suffer with this. My sympathies, its horrible!

My sister has had to cut a lot of food out of her diet after following a food elimination plan from her doctor. It takes time - 2/3 weeks for each thing you test, and then eat that food again to see if it triggers an episode. She has cut a great deal of dairy from her diet. Activia yoghurts she found particularley bad. She also had cut a lot of fruit veg. Bananas were the worst.

For me, it was more stress triggered. Didn't really matter what I ate. Everyone is different. Good luck finding something that works for you.

    Hi Bella!

Docs said it was stress for me but I gave them a call the other day and suggested it could be food and he said it was fine for me to do an elimination diet but to make sure I only cut one thing at a time as my body will struggle to find the nutrients if I cut everything out.

So far its day 2 no dairy, still getting slight symptoms (lower tummy is making some very wierd noises but luckily no-one in the office has noticed!) so I'm not sure if its my body trying to get used to the amount of fruit I'm starting to eat (have heard bodies sometimes take a while to adjust to a new healthy diet) so am keeping an eye on it and hopefully it will sort itself out in the next couple of days!

It is horrible though as last couple of days I've felt so bloated and meh and my poor OH is trying to give me attention and I just cant let him as I feel disgusting. Sure it will get sorted soon though :)

This is been a really interesting thread and has helped me alot. I dont think I have IBS as I never seem to feel bloated or have diahrea (sp). I do seem to feel that I need to go to the toilet more often and have rumbling noises in my stomach, sometimes after I drink something I got a strange feeling in my tummy, like a cold full feeling. Dont know if that makes sense or not.

Bet when you see the doctor he/she says its IBS, IBS is an umbrella term for a whole range of gasteroentreology symptoms, I don't match with many of the IBS symptoms- wont bore you with the details here, yet STILL I get diagnosed as having IBS, wouldn't mind but this rules out any treatment besides things like peppermint tea/capsuals, buscopan and etc, none of which help at all. Hope you get on better at the doctors then I did!
