    Now you just sound ridiculous.

No I don't, I know what I am talking about.

I only asked if I needed any,

No you didn't, you asked if you need insurance in case you cut through a pipe, and my answer was along the lines of "make sure you can't cut through pipes when you are doing it"

obviously I'm not going to go slashing at the pipes with a sharp knife.

No, but you are asking if you need insurance for it? If you're not going to do it, why would you need insurance for it?

I'm just dumbfounded that you said you "wouldn't let me anywhere near your freezer" when I asked if I needed insurance,

It wasn't the fact that you asked if you needed insurance, it was the fact that you thought you might do it, so thought you might need to be insured against it.

I would have had more confidence in you if you had said you would not burst the gas pipes because you would not use anything that might burst them.

and that I "don't sound that good to you" for seemingly no reason and with no basis!

The basis was, you thought you might do damage to the freezers and your first thought was to insure yourself against it.

Your first thought should have been "How can I do the job without risking bursting the pipes"?

Having insurance might sound like a good idea to you, but your customers would much rather you prevented the accident in the first place, rather than leaving it to an insurance company to sort out.

Where do you possibly think you get the right to tell someone you've never met or know anything about that they're not any good at something?

Well you clearly didn't know how to defrost a fridge without damaging the pipes. You asked about being insured for damaging the pipes while using a metallic object, when every freezer manufacturer tells you not to use metallic objects when defrosting freezers.

I think, under the circumstances, I have every right to tell you that you are not good at it.

You're shit in bed BTW and you can't make a cheese toastie to save your life.

Yes, but I won't be asking people to pay me to go to bed with them, or to pay me to make toasties for them. And I won't be saying, in answer to the question "What if you do it wrong and ruin the equipment" 'don't worry, I'm insured'.

Now, imagine you go on Dragons Den, and have them convinced your idea is a good one. Then one of them saying "What will happen if you use a metallic object and burst the gas pipes"?

And you answer "Oh, I will be insured for that"

All the dragons will say "Wrong answer, I'm out" Then they'll explain to you that the correct answer should have been "I won't be using metallic object, they are not recommended by the manufacturers. I will only use implements recommended by the manufacturers and follow the manufacturers procedures, so burst a pipe will not happen"

Seriously?!?! Have you actually latched on to that one point for your whole argument? The pipe was an example, I assumed I'd need some 3rd party liability insurance for working in people's homes, but it was an afterthought to the thread, hence the edit, burst pipe was the first thing that came into my head. Maybe i should have put an eg or an etc in there for feeble minded folk.
Accidents happen, that's why you have insurance for stuff. That was hardly the major point of the post though.

Oh well i won't bother anyway, just an idea I had whilst defrosting my freezer last night. I'll just go and get another credit card instead maybe that will help.

I would never be a customer both the two freezers we have are frost free I would never have a conventional freezer again

I use to do mine every 6 months or so with a hairdyer, trays to catch water and towels horrible job

You might loose some space in some freezers for this, well you did in my old freezer but what you loose in space due to the fan you gain by having no build up of ice

You can defrost my freezer - I will give you £10.

Burst a pipe and I burst your head.
