Im not complaining but...

I have just today received a statement from littlewoods. I only owe them £140 but payplan said i cant pay them off as its unfair etc. They only get £1.36 a month & i guess understanably have rejected the DMP & been the only problem i have had. Anyhoo got a statement today & they have refunded all of the charges on to my account?? i havent asked them too, anyone know why they would do this? xx

Also re: the unfair paying etc. You CAN pay them off if you want to, it's just that it's payplan's policy to deal with them all in one go and fairly. The only real way that paying off one over others will have an affect on you in real terms is if you were to end up going bankrupt, or going for a DRO, at which point that payment would then be seen as preferencing a creditor and could mean the restrictions of the bankruptcy or DRO are extended past discharge. However, you can play tactics with them, if you can get all creditors to agree to let you pay the one off, and then split the funds between the other creditors, that would be seen as fair and not preferencing, as the creditors agreed to it.
It only really matters in BR/DRO though, but if it's payplan's policy, then obviously to do otherwise would mean that your DMP is put at risk.

Creditors do sometimes just play nicely at the start of a DMP. I have known it happen before (although rarely). Looks like your lucks in, perhaps try a quid on the Saturday Lotto draw! :rotfl:

There's not a lot of storming they can do if they're getting paid. If they decide it was a mistake and try to put it up again you can be difficult about that too!

  • Hi

I had an account with a small balance, two more payments and It would of been paid off in full, then I received a statement showing an interest refund that amounted to the same value as the two outstanding payments, with the words ACCOUNT CLOSED ;)
