Phonecall from EMC re Endowment mis-selling

Someone out the blue rang me today from EMC www.expconnect.net about my endowment. No idea how they got my number. The chap reckons they have 90% success in compensation claims for mis-selling. If they are successful with the claim they get 35% + vat of it which seems steep to me.
My endowment was set up round about 1992/93 through the Abbey National with Friends Provident when I was setting up a mortgage with them. Any advice whether this can be pursued by me alone or am I better off letting this company handle it? Thanks.

Which is about 3 times the average success rate at the peak of endowment claims before 3/4 of all endowments were timebarred. So, in other words, complete bull on their part.My endowment was set up round about 1992/93 through the Abbey National with Friends Provident when I was setting up a mortgage with them. Virtually all FP endowments are now time barred (most in 2007-2008). Is yours?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Don't touch and barge pole spring to mind. A quick use of the search function will get you all the horror stories you need. these boards are not exactly full of success stories from companies like these are they0 -
Thanks for those two replies. My gut instinct was not to go with someone who phones up out the blue.

Will I need to call FP to check or can I find out online. If there is a time bar I guess there's not much else I can do except stress how I'll manage the shortfall on maturing of endowment!:money:0 -

Check your statements as the time bar date was shown on those (up to the time you could still complain - so look at 2004-2007 statements). Or ring FP and ask them when you were timebarred.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
