Silly me....what a ditherer

Hello all.....just starting out on my journey (sooooo excited) and looking forward to being now able to post here instead of just lurking :>)

Date is set for August 2011......Humanist Wedding in Scotland......so far just venue and celebrant booked......we are just wanting an intimate, personal service and to include our children in the service....not wanting to spend too much on dresses for myself and daughter so had been looking at the Monsoon/BHS/other on-line stores for ideas.

Had seen this dress that I really liked from BHS (Camille ivory bridal gown - ref 655103) and was dithering, wondering whether to order just to see if I liked the style on me.....but then thought it was far too early to be doing that (although you peeps may be able to help me out there as have no idea what I should be doing when in terms of outfits etc??)...anyway was dithering about wondering "do I, don't I" and of course now it appears to have been removed from their site - am really quite disappointed as it's the only dress I've so far seen that I've really liked.

Unfortunately it won't let me post a link to the dress. Anyway just wondered if any of you lovely peeps can think of elsewhere I can try that might do something similar. Am worried if I do the whole "bridal shop" thing that they won't have anything within the budget I have for a dress (up to £500 max but this one looked really nice and the style I like) and I really did love the look of this one.....serves me right for being so indecisive I suppose....

Also just found out as well that my lovely hairdresser (who has come to my house for years to do our hair) is going to be away at her sister's wedding down south on my big day......she has said she can recommend somebody else that is good but I'm really disappointed :>(

So wish I had been more decisive and just ordered the dress just to try on and see if the style suited me - the only thing I had to lose was the £3.75 delivery charge....I could kick myself.....

Any advice would be so very much appreciated and thanks in advance....I'm enjoying reading everyone's stories.

    What size are you?

Why not go to a few dress shops and try on some dresses to see if they would suit your budget? They quite often have samples sales (and they are about half price).

I bought a dress second hand of ebay for £88+£25 delivery charge and it's a designer one. I don't see the point of wearing a brand new dress.

That's the one - thank you for posting link. I'm currently between a 14/16 - (depending on shop!!)....I'm 5ft 9in tall so need to be careful also with lengths......

If I go to any shops is it too early just now?? Have no idea of timescales and don't want to do things too early....although was somewhat shocked at some venues I looked at that there already fully booked on Saturdays until the end of 2012!!!
  • If you're buying a full price dress at a shop they will take 3-4 months to get made and you'd have 2 fittings for alterations.

so it probably isn't too early and you may want to go to a few shops to get a feel for what sort of dress you'd like. The wedding dress I bought is not something that I would normally even think I'd wear!!

I would get the dress and not worry about it being too early, just a way of spreading the cost of the wedding!
