Mobile Phone Dilema.

My mobile is up for renewal. I am on a contract with 02, currently at 25 quid a month.

I have decided instead of going through O2 again, to go through a quidco deal, but can't decide which would be best for us.

Option 1 - 12 free months, free phone, free cross network minutes and texts and 5 cash back from quidco. This means free phone and line rental, just paying 1.99 for billing per month :O I'd then stick the 60 quid a month we'd be saving (we've cancelled Dh's phone) against debts.

Option 2 - Get free Ipod Nano/XBox 360/Sony PSP and standard tarrif and £40 quid cashback. We don't want any of the above so would sell and put against our debt along with the 30 quid a month from dh's cancelled contract.

So, what do you think folks? Option 1 or 2.

  • I think hun, that your best bet would be to go over to the phones board, I'm sure they're full of phone-y knowledge!!! Although if in option 1 you're saving £60 a month and option 2 you're saving £30 a month I'd go for option 1, but get more advice first!! :D

Check first with option 1, what the contract term is - often they'll give you 12 free months but lock you in for 18 or 24 months and charge you a monthly line rental after the free 12 months.

Ask on the phone board, they'll know more!
  • Happen to have a bit on mobile phone knowldge.... have you called o2 and said you want to cancel to see what they offer you?

Definitely phone O2 and say that your contract is up for renewal and what can they offer. The deals are generally rubbish, so barter. Get them to match it to a website offer and add something

My dad's so good as this he got a Motorola VMi for free (they originally wanted £50 for it) and six months half price contract.
