My son is a Traffic Operator in a DC and all his mates are lorry drivers, he get's on with anybody and treats the drivers the same as the Op's Manager. He would never speak to anyone like !!!!!!. Maybe that's why he is so well liked at work. When they have their christmas do, my son always goes out with the drivers and not the office staff.
On the other hand when my brother was driving (for a different DC) the young lads in the traffic office were stuck up and thought they were better than the drivers. So I guess you get good and bad everywhere.

With all respect, your son isn't in Goods In so would get on well with the lorry drivers there because they are basically work colleagues.

Goods In is a completely different kettle of fish.

my dh did this. the company he worked for did pay for his class 2 and class 1. it was on the condition he worked for them for 2 years. hes never looked back. his wages have only dropped slightly with the recession. so i say go for it there will be someone out there that will do the same. a warning though its very hard work and you'll always be tiered. it does affect your social life especially when your getting up at 3 and 4 am.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • I can't emphasise how much I agree with all the negative points listed above but, there are jobs which will give immense satisfaction and enjoyment. If you want to take a chance on getting stuck in a rut then go for it. If you manage to get the two years experience needed by most firms you could always end up in a fantastic job.
