I hope the quality doesn't diminish when they join up with Mothercare. I love Mini Mode clothes, they wash brilliantly and don't shrink or fade. Mothercare, on the other hand, not so keen. I don't like the way the clothes are a bit more 'fashiony' and don't get me started on that horrendous Baby K stuff - black and grey? on a tiny baby? No ta.

I've heard that the new Mothercare version will be 'more fashionable' and have less promotions.

Here, Mothercare and Boots are next door. I don't think we've ever bought any clothes from Mothercare, though we have been given some. In my opinion Mothercare clothes are more expensive, less well made, wash less well, much uglier and less often reduced than Mini Mode. Mini Mode was, in my opinion, better than M&S. I wouldn't rate Mothecare clothes above Primark even ignoring the price difference. It is a shame but I can't see us buying from Boots once they are selling Mothercare clothes.

From an economic point of view I think this diminution of competition between the two largest players in the mums-and-babies market is dangerous. Mothercare has its clothes/buggies high street monopoly and won't try too hard to compete with the pharmacy retail monopoly next door and vice versa. I'm sure they won't do anything as stupid as price-fixing, but this is hardly cut-throat competition, is it?

Such a pity though - my daughters have looked beautiful in Mini Mode clothes. Shame it never made a profit. RIP.
  • i love mini mode too. anyone know if the reductions in the big Merthyr store are worth going to see?
  • I can now confirm that if you buy two pairs of these type of leggings (i got blue&white):

    http://minimode.co.uk/girls-striped-leggings-in-pink

    you get a pound off.

So 2 pairs for £5 bargain! would be even cheaper if my baby wasn't ginger and could wear pink/red as those were reduced to £2 and also buy two save £1.

I guess this offer would be available on all the stuff on this page:
