Panasonic breadmaker & making muffins ?

Options
Hi
I was wanting to make muffins and thought I would use the dough method on the Panasonic. However the panasonic recipe is very different - it doesnt even mention adding fruit ! I dont want to waste money mixing up ingredients that dont work, as have one breadmaker diasaster all ready !.
I have read a few people saying they mix up muffins, various things etc on the breadmaker and I would like to get as much use of it as possable.
Here is squeaky recipe-
300g self raising flour
150g caster sugar
125g blueberries
1 egg
175ml milk
125ml vegetable oil

panasonic breadmaker recipe

1/2 tsp yeast
300g strong white flour
1 tsp sugar
25g butter
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
150ml water

Can anyone suggest whats the best way to make muffins in the breadmaker and how they do it ? thanks x

    hi Cat,
is it English or American muffins you want to make? they're very different animals

squeaky's recipe looks like an American one & the Panasonic looks like an English one

you wouldn't want to mix American muffins in any kind of mixer, minimal mixing is one of the keys to success with them

that would be the American kind then

personally I wouldn't use the breadmaker, the mechanical mixing wouldn't produce the best results, & it's so easy to make them anyway :)

dry ingredients combined in a big bowl, wet in another bowl or jug, pour wet into dry, mix gently until just combined, the mixture will probably loook a bit lumpy but that's good, put into your muffin cases, then into the oven & that's all there is to it

there are a few other threads with muffin technique discussions, I'll have look for them & put up the links for you :)
