Please help with debt advice

My son has a good job, but he has made some mistakes in the past and is now in some debt. He looked in to an IVA, but was under the limit (just), the firm he went to offered to take all is debt and pay it, then he pays them over 3 years. They are charging him £40 a month for this. Please can someone advise me is this the best way to get out of debt. He has tried to go for advice to several places but they say they can't help him as he is in employment, which is stupid in my opinion, or they say that there is a 3 month waiting list. PLEASE can anyone help, he hasn't received the paper work yet, so there is still time.

This is the link to the page tealady and doodle do are suggesting.
The video on that page is well worth a watch too (even if it is 21 mins long).I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

Paying a company at least £480 x 3 is not a good way to get out of debt. It is far better to take free advice and pay £480 x 3 towards his debt instead.
Please advise him to to use this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631
There may be a waiting list to see someone face to face, but there is a self help guide on the national debtline website and an on-line debt remedy on the CCCS website. If he looks at these he should have a much better idea as to what he can afford to pay back and how long it will take.0
