A while ago there was an advert on the radio wanting people to get paid for health research, does anyone know where to find about this, thanks.

Hi folks, long time lurker that finally got round to posting!

I did a medical study a few years back with a company in Edinburgh (Inveresk Research at the time, not sure what they're called now). They had a really good reputation, which was upheld by the staff's friendly and professional manner to everyone involved. I was on a study to test fertility drugs (they even gave us free condoms for the duration as we were all super fertile!) and on the day of payment were were all given open cheques to cash in at a nominated bank. I got over £900 for a month long study, which paid for my trip to Australia.

They also had another clinic where you could test things like soap, suntan lotion etc. I didn't get as much money for that (most I was paid there was £120 for testing gas powered syringes) but it was based close to uni and it supplemented my student loan nicely.

As I mentioned before, the company I did the studies with had a great reputation but I am aware that there are some horror stories out there so if you're thinking of going for it I'd recommend you research the company thoroughly. If they're legit, they also won't mind you asking them a ton of questions.

    Hope this helps :)

Personally I wouldn't want to be a test dummy in the health research arena. I think there are many other ways to increase your monthly income through savings/cutbacks/using cashback/discount sites/surveys/article writing or even setting up your own niche website.
