Hair clippers-bargain of the year!

When I was with my ex and had the cash to splash or should I say the card to splash, getting my monthly haircut used to cost £13 with the usual tip of £2 for the girls bringing it up to £15, so over a year cost me £180.
Now I have three kids two of which get monthly haircuts of which some places will charge £8-10 a child so for me and the two kids could cost up to £35 a month or £420 a year.
Have to do it every month as my hair grows outwards and I am the only white guy with an afro, but then we invested in a set of hair clippers £12.99 and we all get it done for free, takes minutes to do and its easy peasy.
So if your not the vain type and having short hair don't bother you then get yourself a set of clippers and keep your money in your pocket instead of the hairdressers, Guess they will work mainly for the guys though!

My son wont let me near his head with clippers ever since nicking his ear.
But thanks for the recommendation...suitable for folk not so heavy handed.

I go to a hairdresser in Lancashire, only - I hasten to add - when I am up that way on business, who charges £3.50. My local hairdresser has just put his prices up to £6.50 and my daughter says he does not do such a good job.
I need more customers in Lancashire - Please.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I have clippers and do my husband hair every other time. Cost £19.99 about 5/6 years ago and so they have paid for themselves many times over as they also have decent scissors that allow my husband to trim my long straight hair.
But he has found a mobile hairdresser that cuts his hair for drum roll please £2
So when he needs a decent cut beacuse of a event he gets the hairdresser to do it for him. But I trim and tidy up as required.
Yours

I have cut my husband's hair for years with clippers (he has the Mitchell Brothers style so that's just a fast buzz over the top and sides). My eldest son is just starting to rebel and wants to grow his after having a number 3 for years. My youngest son is autistic and used to go so berserk in the hairdressers that there was nowhere I could take him to get it done (he can't stand being touched) so I started giving him a number 3 too and at least he only goes made in our own home!! Takes about 2 hours of persuasion...
So for us clippers are a boon - we just need ours sharpening now.

I cut my own hair every 2 months (and I am female). I often get compliments on it
(It's cut in a bob. Precision is less important than you might think. And how often have YOU come home from the hairdressers and cut off a long bit they've missed?)

As a child I was despatched, once a month, to the local travelling barber (Archie Bridges), who would set up shop in the front room of a friends house in the village.
We lived in fear of those clippers - they were manual - not even electric:eek:
The walls of the front room of this otherwise elegant Victorian Semi would be lined with wooden chairs each occupied with some poor soul, clutching his 10d (just over 4p) waiting, not so eagerly, for his turn in the centre chair.
There was no choice - it was a 'short back and sides' like it or not, that would be the envy of many a Regimental Sargeant Major.
This 'Cranial Punishment' would be meted out in exactly 5 minutes of pure agony by this sadistic butcher with the blunt clippers. The only accompanying sound being the rumble of his stomach which he pressed against your head to stop you from moving.
As there was no mirror, in which to watch the progress of this barbaric ritual, the only way you knew it was over was when you received a cursory clip round the earhole, followed by the words - 'Who's next'
Archie Bridges' Tenpenny all-offs were legendary in the area, and were, probably, the main reason that I took a paper round at the age of 13. The luxury of going to a proper barber far outweighed the early mornings!
You will forgive me if I don't share your enthusiasm for Hair Clippers:rolleyes::rolleyes:
