Is my IFA showing me the best deals?

  • I thought Martin recommended a broker plus approach, where you speak to a broker and then do some digging yourself for the best deal with ones that don't use a broker - for example HSBC, Post Office, etc.

Your IFA can see these deals btw, I know this because I went to see one and I pointed out that I could get a much better rate at HSBC and PO and he pulled up the information for me, even told me how much a HSBC survey was.

The difference is that they won't get a commission from these lenders and they also probably won't even deal with them

I went direct to the Post Office, it was smooth sailing and had an offer in 8 days, it depends on your credit history - if its not clean then maybe a mortgage adviser can advise who is more likely to accept you.

This is why many of us here say you should go independent rather than whole of market. An independent considering ALL deals is the only true whole of market option.
