I buy the cat food when there are vouchers - Tesco sent me a load of £4 off £40 spend. Have occasionally got Felix @ 3 for a £1 from Poundland & 99p store, they kindly carry it out the back to the loading bay for me. Also have 5 cats!0

Huge bags, Hills, Royal Canin etc., cheaper than the vets and free delivery. I have no complaints about them at all. The quality of these branded foods is better than the tinned stuff you get in supermarkets.0 -
I've just been looking at the Petplanet website, but can't see tins of catfood anywhere, (other than those silly little 'gourmet' tins) - have I missed something? My cat turns her nose up at dried food and I refuse to buy pouches as they're so expensive and I'm sure much the same as you get in a tin. Not easily recyclable either, whereas tins are. In fact I'm sure I remember large tins of cat food being available, a bit like the 1.2 kg ones you can get for dogs. Are these still around?
And whatever happened to katkins too, I haven't seen it for ages.0 -

I don't think they do tins.
Ask any vet and they will tell you that the tins that you can buy in the supermarket are not good for cats.
If they have to have wet food then the Hills or Royal Canin etc are best.
What I do is give my three cats Hills or Royal Canin dry food and alternate days for breakfast add a sachet of wet Hills pouch food divided into their three bowels just for some variety. Dry food is sooo much cheaper than supermarket tins. It also makes their litter trays less smelly as my three are indoor cats and that is important.
They are healthy and energetic and are doing well on it.
Petplanet is good. I ordered online Sunday evening and delivery will be today and you can track an order online.
With cats who don't want to switch from one food to another the best way is to mix the new food very gradually in over a few days so they don't notice it.0 -
More of a guidance on the Asda food really as I'm in the same boat trying to find bulk buys for my 3 cats - we recently bought the ASDA brand canned cat food and now my little Molly cat is seriously Ill at the vets with Gastro Enteritis - which the Vet believes came from a bacteria infected can of the asda food. Our other cats were a bit poorly too but recovered quickly, Molly had kittens 5 weeks ago and therefore her immune system was very low.
Whilst I'd never had a problem with the Tesco brand cat food I would advise anyone to be cautious with Asda - based on my personal experience only - but saving a few quid on cat food has cost me £236 so far on Vet bills!0 -
Yikes. Best wishes for Molly. I've bought hundreds of tons of Asda brand cat food, although none recently because of the Tesco money off spend coupons. Our cats don't get much tinned food in the summer because 4 are ferals and live in a barn, and if they don't tuck in straight away I worry the food will get fly blown etc. Somehow the biscuits seem better in heat.0
