Not sure if this is the right place...
But can anyone recommend any places online or otherwise to get a feel for diamond prices....after a particluar cut and wondering what size I can afford.
Don't want to go into a store and get ripped off / not get the absolute best I can get!

Try Blue Nile. It is a website where you can pick the exact diamond you want and have it made up into a ring. Obviously you don't have to buy it from there but I found it really good for working out rough costs. Hope that helps.0

I'm sure your (hopefully!) future fianc!e will love whatever you get
if it's not too cheeky a question what size/cut are you considering getting? 0 -

Thinking of a solitaire marquise cut.....probably around 1-1.2ct.
I like the style of the marquise; looks very elegant. My main worry is that if I can't afford a fair size stone, it will just look silly!0 -
Blue Nile. Got my engagement ring from there. Prices are spot on, you're unlikely to get better quality for the money on the highstreet.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0

It was between blue nile and samara james for my fiance, in the end he went with samara james - ring is beautiful and service was great. They even let him have it before it was hallmarked as he was planning to propose on holiday and it wasn't going to be ready in time. We sent it back as soon as we got home and it was returned and hallmarked within a week.
Also the inurance value is almost double what he paid for it
