All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

Most male snorers have a collar size of 17 inches or above , if so loose weight is most effective.
Cutting down , or out , smoking and alcohol work well as well.
Most snorers sleep on their back so sewing part of a foam " swim sausage" onto back of sleep wear to force you to sleep on side works surprisingly well .
Some sprays with essential oils such as snore ease have variable results .
Certain medications can also make snoring worse as can very occaisionally problems like deviated septum. If this applies or if you have symptoms of sleep apnoea( stop breathing whilst sleeping, falling asleep during day) then see doctor.
There are expensive mouth positioning devices that work but are hard work to wear and you need to be screened for sleep apnoea first.0 -

i snored like a train going over a cliff, stopped after i dropped some weight and started exercising0 -
My husband is a terrible snorer so bad that i have to sleep downstairs and i can still hear him!
Hes trialing a cpap machine and its working like a dream, while you are snoring you arent properly sleeping, go to your gp im so glad my fella did, ive suffered for years.0 -
Cpap machines are only used for sleep apnoea and many people find them difficult to get used to, but by continuously supplying oxygen at positive pressure they remove the very real hazards posed by sleep apnoea.0

No they arent, he hasnt got sleep apneoa but he has the cpap, he is just a heavy snorer that is always tired.0
-
That certainly covers a couple of the symptoms. The sleep clinics who I deal with would not go down the cpap route without apnoea as there is little point in providing positive pressure ventilation where there is not an oxygenation problem. Also our guidelines will not allow cpap for snoring only , there are other measures which may be effective.0

Well all i know is that this machine has made such a difference, he hasnt been diagnosed with the apnoea just awful snoring and continual tiredness.0

Ask next time you're at clinic. Many health authorities will not fund cpap even for those with severe sleep apnoea. I would be amazed if he doesn't have sleep apnoea particularly as the snoring and being tired all the time are typical symptoms. Particularly if at night he appears to have times when he stops breathing/snoring for some time and then resumes again with a start.0

My hubbie is fit and healthy but still snores like a trooper, he's a back sleeper, we tired sprays and nose strips to no avail really, worked for a bit then wore off, so i wear ear plugs and get to sleep before him
not very romantic i know but sleep is way more important
Funnily enough i've slept with earplugs now for 8 and a half years and find now i can't sleep without them...hubby or no hubby!
When we went to the docs to ask about cures as it were as OH is tired a lot, he just said carry on with the ear plugs  not very helpful.0 -

Yes he does the stop start breathing thing but according to the hospital its not enough to be classed as apnoea.
he has to go back this friday because of a really dry mouth while on the machine so they are going to add a humidity contraption.0
