DCA/Metropolitan question

Hello,

my debt is looking to be going over to Metropolitan DCA. My one question is, I am in a job where I can earn fairly good commission £100-£200/month. However, with the nature of commission this can be quite different amounts month to month. With a DCA can you pay extra on top of your agreed payment, like a credit card, or does it have to be a set amount only, like a loan? Want to get debt paid off asap!

Thanks x

Sorry I am not sure what Metropolitan is? Is it a Debt Collection Agency? If so, then they just want all of the money RIGHT NOW! What are your debts? Have you done a Statement of Affairs (sorry if I missed it, I have been off the web for a bit), detailing all your income and outgoings?

As to the money I think that you can probably over pay, but I am sure there will be someone along shortly who knows more.

    Best of luck

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Thank you for the quick reply!

Sorry, I should have said, I'm with CCCS and have been since April. Have done SOA and have got everything right down now. Metropolitan is HSBC's debt collection agency and HSBC are the debtor who won't play ball ie. listen to lower payments, income/expenditure etc, so they are technically missing payments as they won't accept my lower ones. It's all in the process of going to Metropolitan now so was just wondering. I'm really proud as I've got myself in a position of going from £317/month to £550/month to throw at my debt all with the help of people on here and moving house/changing job! The unpredictable commission could potentially take it to £650/700/month!

if you are with CCCS on a dmp i thought if you had lump sums they all had to be shared equally between your creditors??
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Im on a DMP with Payplan - if I ever have any extra cash (bonus etc) I pass it to them and they distribute equally between creditors.

They do not like you paying 1 creditor as you are then not treating all creditors equally. I should think CCCS are the same.
    debt April 2007:

    Link Financial £6486.79
    MSDW £4915.45
    Natwest Loan £30651.43
    Tesco £3824.09

Total debt.... a staggering £45877.76, but reducing

Debt free date June 2013 (a long way off and counting...)
  • I'm really sorry. I am still half asleep I think! I haven't explained myself properly at all.

I did mean that the money would be going via CCCS and split between both of my creditors (HSBC and MBNA). MBNA are accepting lower payments and have frozen interest and a new review is being done by CCCS in a few weeks. Both HSBC and MBNA would be getting higher payments - all debt paid off quicker, not one! I was only wondering about Metropolitan as it looks to be going that way and they would hold the debt then. not HSBC.

    Sorry for not being clear.
