I applied for a 14 day free trial for Audible through Quidco to get £6 cashback and a free audiobook. The trial states that you can cancel FOC within 14 days, so although you have to enter CC details, as long as you remember to cancel, you get a nice freebie here!
One word of caution though:
When you go to cancel, the site offers you a free £5 voucher to entice you to stay a member, though it does not tie you in and there are no conditions attached to it. If you accept this (which I did), the option of cancelling online is removed and you have to call and cancel over the phone.
Now, I admit I just wanted a freebie and was never planning on staying a member, so I just thought "I'll take the voucher, download another book worth a fiver and then cancel later"
So, today I called to cancel, and the man I spoke to has got to be the rudest customer service agent I have EVER come accross.
He launched in to a heated speech about how I had taken advantage of the £5 voucher and that this was meant to signal my agreement to stay a member, how could I have done this, surely I knew this when I accepted and spent it, blah blah blah.
I thought I may get a bit of a hard sell when I called to cancel, and was kinda prepared for it, but he was just downright rude and went on and on until I got angry and told him to shut up and just cancel it.
My opinion of this is if a company offers a no-strings voucher (and there is definitely no conditions attached to it - I checked) then it's just too bad if someone still wants to cancel afterwards. They should make it a condition that you have to stay for, say, one month afterwards and not have a go at people for taking advantage of it.
So take advantage of the offer, and the £5 voucher if you choose, but be prepared for some serious attitude when you call to cancel.
If I ever were going to get audiobooks in the future, I 100% will not think of using them again after this.
Ultimately, I got £6 cashback + 2 audiobooks so it takes the edge off a bit!!
