The Money Club

Has anyone heard or dealt with The Money Club (https://www.themoneyclub.co.uk) ? They contacted me last night offering up to 50% of the items of goods and various deals on holidays, insurance etc. All this for a £79 admin fee and £98 per year.

The idea is that you call them when you want to purchase a particular item and they will deal with a supplier direct to get the best possible deal. They gave me the example of a lady recently buying a £400 Dell computer for £200 appx instead via them.

It all sounds good but having been on their website I'm a little weary. Does anyone know anything about them ?

  • I'm not sure I would be keen to join something that had such hefty up front charges, unless there was a particular item I needed like a pc that I knew it would be worth it for the discount.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!!
Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.

yeah they phoned me as well- have you been doing comps on my offers

It sounded crap to me to be honest.

its rubbish. If it was that good, they wouldnt need to phone advertise it.

I hadnt seen the website till now, but it looks cheap & nasty.

I said I wouldnt pay someone to find me the cheapest deal, Ill do that myself.

Plus all this bulk purchasing nonsense. I dont know ANYONE whos a member, nor have I heard it recommended here. I dont think ( and judging by the webiste too, ) they would have the power to bulk purchase dell PCs or flights to caracas which is the exampole i asked for.

    Sounded rubbish.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • I've never heard of the money club, and to be honest, I wouldnt touch it. I cant see how they are going to save you any more money that you could save yourself by using a price comparison site before you buy something. The biggest turn off for me would be the fees they charge. As far as i can see the only money saver in this is the money club themselves. Maybe i am being a bit hard but you did ask!:D

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - if you have to pay cash upfront its never a good idea.
Its always best using your own sleuths nose to find yourself the best deals...oh yes and come on here for the endless reams of good advice.
    :)
  • I was contacted by them a last year and I said I wanted the info before I commited to anything, I took one look at the website and the fees and decided against it, afterall what is the internet for these days checking the cheapest prices around and getting the best deal. As well as other things.

Don't touch them, they are as cheap and nasty as their website.

BTW Make it VERY clear you don't want them to contact you or they will, every couple of weeks or so.
