Hi I was discharged in Dec 2008 and I'm looking for a savings account but don't know where to start. Does anyone know?

Yorkshire Building Society internet saver account, lots of us have got one of these as undischarged BR's no bother at all.

Thank you I will give this a go. Do you know if it is instant access? I would quite like an account which is a bit more difficult to get at!

Google Credit Union and your county/town. You can get a savings account and if you need to get money out you have to go in to the office to do it, so not that easy.

You get a cash point card with it, so yes it is instant access. But you could put the card into a drawer and not take it out with you! :D

I have has two Nationwide savings accounts since the month after I was declared BR. Never had any problems at all.

Did you have to show your discharge papers? That's one thing I don't have - I need to go to the court and pay for them.

I called the Coop to open a personal account after disharge (already had a joint account with them) they offered me a smart saver account too. So was very happy.

I'm sure my friend managed to get an account with natwest after discharge too so they might be the way forward. Don't know if I should wait until I get my discharge papers as I'm sure she had to go in to a branch with hers
