hi all,
hope some one can help?
ok basically i served 16 years in the forces, which entitled me to a 'half' pension. this i believe is frozen (where i have no idea). now i have just sarted working for the nhs and pay into there superannuation pension plan.
two questions really
1. can i transfer my army pension to my nhs?is it worth it? will i forfeit any of it?
2. people tell me the nhs pension plan cannot be beaten, is this right?
ok it was more thn two questions, but thanks for listening anyway

The military pay the best pension bar none (appart from sneaky executive plans). Statutory schemes like the NHS, Local Government etc. are good but award benefits each year you work of 1/80 each year of your final salary plus a lmup sum of 3 x the first year's pension indexation etc. Virtually the same benefits that are recieved after 40 years in the NHS scheme are received after 22 years in the forces.
Ask how many years the NHS will give for a transfer from your forces pension to check whether you would be better off. I think you would be unlikely to beat the forces benefits and you may even be able to take them at an earlier age without penalty while you are still working with the NHS.0
