World book tokens - tescos

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has used their world book tokens recently in Tescos..to buy the actual books (not to have money off of shopping)
I tried to buy some books today and attempted to use my £1 vouchers but they wouldnt accept them. Saying that they didnt take them anymore.
There was a sticker on the front of the books saying £1 off when using the world book token etc, but they wouldnt take it off at the till
Anyone else had any problems using them for the books?

World book day was ages ago. Why didn't you use them then? And they are for books :rolleyes:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I did use a couple earlier...but the date on the voucher is 31st December or until stocks are run out, so surely I should still be able to use them?
and all these books all had the sticker on the front saying £1 off with the vouchers...that is what made me annoyed.
The CS lady told me that Tescos have stopped taking them.
I politely pointed out that there was a sticker on the front of each book saying to use the £1 vouchers and she just said oohhh that shouldn't of been on there and promptly took them off.0 -
ohhhhh now that is dodgy, I beleive that would come under their mis-pricing policy? Get on to HO about it, or if you want to create a scene then get back in their and make them phone HO in front of you! They will have to give it too you, especially if they were the marked books!
My Tesco has tons of books, but they never had the WBD books. I had to get mine from Smiths, which was fine last time I used them.0 -
i think she means the quick reads vouchers and yes i always use them0

Problem is of course that there are so many of them around. All of the Tesco's around me stopped taking them a while ago due to over use. (it wasn't me promise :-) ) If you can get any through, good luck. There is no need to run outside

I saw a similar thread a few weeks ago, and it was pointed out on there that the World Book Day £1 tokens are not the same thing as the Quick-reads tokens. I know they were both issued by niace (the World Book Day people) but they are different tokens for different books, so you can't insist Tesco accept them.
The original 'WBD tokens' were issued in March to schoolkids, and could only be used in March to buy certain kids' books I think.
The Quick Reads are for specific 'quick-read' books.
Having said that, I have used some QR tokens this week in several branches of Tesco to buy other stuff (not books), and have never been refused. I think it depends if your local Tesco has been swamped with them or not...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have hundreds of the Quick Read vouchers left from a promo we did for them via my company. If anyone wants some then PM me to get the address to send a SAE to.
Please note, so that I don't get silly requests I'm only prepared to send 6 to each person who replies. Unless you can proove you run a book club or something!0
