Changing direct debit/due date on bank loan

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to know if anyone has changed their direct debit on a Bank of Scotland loan? I recently changed jobs and my wages get paid in at the end of the month, instead of the 20th, when my loan comes off. I went in to the branch and they said you can't change it, but has anyone had the problem before??
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Evelyn
