Diaries

Hi there,

I really want to keep a diary of some sort of debts, spends, progress, trials & tribulations etc that I can look back on in my darker moments and see progress achieved, but not sure where to do it. I don't want to do it on somewhere like msn spaces because I don't particularly want the rest of my family to see the gory details, although they do know we are in deep doo doo.

I see some of you keep diaries on here, but I don't know you all so well, and if all the semi lurkers like me started doing that there'd be no room for the legit threads from posters needing help!

So, I was wondering if there is any blog facility on this site (or if not is it in the pipeline?) and if not, can any of you recommend a good one. I was hoping for one on a site like this where people in similar circumstances can read and comment etc (if they want! )

Any ideas?

  • I'm out of the loop with blogs at the moment, so can't help there. My first thought was 'Why *shouldn't* you keep your diary here, and get the same benefits from it that posters of other diaries do?' Then I took on board what you said about pleas for help slipping down the page. Perhaps there's a case then for a DFW Diary subforum, thus encouraging lots of others to have motivational diaries too, including anyone else who may have been detered from the idea for the same reason as you were.

Third thought (we're up to three now, aren't we..? Counts on fingers...) post your diary here anyway. Those in charge of the MSE forums aren't daft, and I think a sub-forum would happen anyway if ever we looked like being drowned in a deluge of diaries :)
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!
  • I agree with pounds_and_pennies, go for the diary on here. At the end of the day, you'll probably only update daily at most, or possibly weekly or less often. As a result, your diary will flip up and down the board like every other one! If it helps your debt, there is no-one that's going to complain about that!

    Good luck.

  • this has been done before by various people both on this site and elsewhere- did something similiar many years ago on totally different subject on site like this http://www.blogger.com which was free and easy to use. make sure you choose good psuedonym if you don't want all the world to know your business. if you're worried about security of data/comments why put it on a blog at all - why not just write it down in a locked book etc - type it out in word (whatever). you can security password word files etc.
  • Hi there,

Use a *PEN*?!?!? Are you mad?!?  We don't live in the dark ages anymore you know! :rotfl:

I'm not worried about securities (oh, and not worried about dh, just mums and mils etc), I just need somewhere to be able to spout really, and record triumphs and disasters. I like the idea of people in the same boat being able to read it, comment on it which you can't do manually. I just wondered if there was a bloggers site for broke people, or at least one that allows you to categorise what your interests are?

    Thanks for the ideas guys.

I have a blog, (https://www.rages-rants.blogspot.com if anyones interested) and I signed up for adsense, they put a few links at the top of your blog, if anyone clicks on them it earns you real money! I get roughly 2.5p per click! Made just over £4 in about a month for no work at all!

Its really easy to use and upload pic and things too.
