Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I'm looking to get two veneers on the top row of teeth. But I do have a few questions.
I am having my teeth whitened in two weeks time
1, How long should I wait before having veneers fitted after having my teeth whitened?
2, What is the average cost of veneers?
3, Is it cheaper to have two veneers rather than just one.
4, Are porcelain veneers better than the cheaper ones?
Any help would be appreciated

You really need to discuss timings etc with the dentist doing your whitening and veneers. They will tell you any warnings etc and discuss your treatment needs best and costings.
Why do you need veneers? If your age is 24 (guess) you are going to need them redoing many times over your lifetime and if the teeth at the moment are untouched you are shortening their lifespan and health.
Are veneers appropriate treatment for you and your teeth? Only a dentist who can see you can tell.0 -
I feel that I'm too old for a brace now and feel that the only option for me would be veneers. I have enough money for them to be replaced throughout my life so I'm not so bothered about that.
The tooth that is at the side of my front tooth on both sides they sit behind my front teeth iykwim. I would really have to have my wisdom teeth removed if I was to have a brace which I really don't want.
I have a massive phobia of the dentist I've not been to one for about two years now. But got a deal on teeth whitening which has given me a kick up the bum to get my teeth sorted.0 -
You do not necessarily need wisdom teeth out with a brace.
You really need to discuss with your dentist your treatment and the maintainance involved afterwards. There may be many reasons why veneers may not be suitable for you and there may be simpler treatments such as composite bonding that may more suitable. But only a dentist who can see your teeth can tell.
More important than cosmetics though is to make sure you've had a proper dental health check up which I hope you have had before starting toothwhitening.
It's also not only a question of having money to replace veneers but also you may be on an irreversible road of more complicated treatment once you have previously untouched teeth treated.0 -
Dentistry also isnt like walking in to tesco's and choosing things off a shelf. We arent a demand and supply industry. We can listen to what you wish to achieve and advise on how to reach that position giving pros and cons of the different options. I dont wish to sound rude but I think from the tone of your postings that you need to broaden your views on things. I know you may FEEL that veneers are your option but with all due respect you probably havent got that much of an idea of what your options could even be. As brook said, see you dentist ask their advice. If they are unable to help then ask them to recommend you someone that may be able to carry out treatments to achieve your goals.
I dont see why you would need your wisdom teeth out anyway. In normal circumstances IMO orthodontics can give a more stable and maintainable result than porcelain deficiency syndrome where crooked teeth is the issue0 -
just out of interest what is the deal on whitening? Is your dentist doing it?0

No my dentist isn't doing the whitening I wouldn't trust them with a dead hamster thats why I haven't been there for so long. It's with a private dentist in liverpool. I don't want a brace I want a quick fix so to speak I've waited so long already. There is not enough room for my front teeth to go backwards so I would have to have my wisdom teeth out I know this because my dentist told me so on my last visit.0

Doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.
Prices of veneers will vary depending on the area of the country and the overheads/experience of the dentist. Usually anywhere between £300 and £3000 per veneer.
You need to wait 2-4 weeks after your whitening
2 veneers = double the laboratory fee for the dentist to pay
Veneers are usually porcelain or composite, and price wise I don't believe there is much in it0 -

If you were needing space the last teeth they would extract would be wisdom teeth! Pre molars or first molars would do that. The space created by extraction of wisdom teeth would be minimal and so remote from the area needed that to utilise it would be an absolute nightmare. You wont get a quick fix with veneers you will get a lifetime of maintenance and replacements. These would need to be done privately to meet aesthetic demands so you would need to factor that cost in. Also thats assuming that your nerves dont die off and lead you to need root fillings or even extractions. Approximately 20% of teeth experience this with each preparation of this type of restoration0
