    They are vouchers which were sent out around March this year (and later) following the World Book Day promo. They are no longer being sent out, BTW. They scan for £1 in Tesco/Asda without buying a book, but only if the cashier accepts them (some certainly do!), I have just found a thread on this from yesterday:

    They are valid until the end of the year, I bought mine on eBay as I didn't get sent any! Look up 'book tokens' under the tickets & travel section of eBay if you fancy buying some, the market is flooded so they are cheap!
