Are SeaFarers eligible for an R85 tax exemption

Hi Everyone,
With my savings accounts and interest I gain from it, I wondered if I can file an R85 form to be tax exempt from these interest payments?
My salary is tax free so I wonder if that counts still as my income or not because it is not counted as a salary that I have made while in the UK etc.?
I thought that perhaps being tax free on my wage I may also be able to use an R85 form. I'm not sure though, when looking at the rules it looks a bit confusing.
As i'd imagine that this salary income would be listed by the HMRC as other income rather than employment income? So in which case I thought maybe I am tax exempt here?

Hmm sorry to double post but I think I've read around any no matter what income after your personal allownce is subject to tax, so no R85 for me. Used to filling them in these past few years with being at uni so making less than 5k. Time to make the most of ISA's I guess, or off short bank accounts!0

Are you resident in the UK for tax purposes or do you pay tax on your salary in another country?0

The OP is UK resident but claiming the 100% deduction that only seafarers now get since The Spice Girls abolished this relief for everyone else.glider3560 wrote: »Are you resident in the UK for tax purposes or do you pay tax on your salary in another country?0
