The only fault with your SOA I can see is you NEED to add in the cigs & other little extras! Stick it in entertainment if you have to! But seems you're doing what you can which is FAB! although your car insurance is high(i assume this is to do with age?) but when it's up for renewal don't forget to shop around and go through a cashback site for that little bit extra.
Good luck to you x
Any extra i have in good months is kept to one side for the months that don't do so well. My most expensive cost (apart from rent) is my petrol costs, these also go down if i have a low month as do other variable costs such as stationary, lunches etc.
Car insurance isn't too bad, my car is in a high insurance band but i need the car i have for the space etc for my business and it's really reliable, it's 10 years old and just passed it's MOT without any problems. I also have class 1 business cover which bumps it up a bit. My renewal was this month, i did lots of shopping around and this was the best quote by far (one was cheaper if i paid in one lump but they whacked on a huge APR to pay monthly which made it more expensive - my company only charge 2% APR). I'm 28 and have four years no claims, i've never had an accident but only been driving for about five years (own car for four hence NCD). I also protected my no claims this year too so that added 15% onto the policy. I've also kept my excess at £100 in case i have an accident and then i don't need to find hundreds if i don't have it. To increase my excess to £250 would only have saved me £80 a year so i reckon i'm better off keeping it at £100 in the long run. It also includes RAC membership too.
I've approached the landlady about utility deals but she's not having any of it. She reckons we're on the best package. She scans in all of the bills when she gets them and attaches them to the emails she sends us telling us how much we owe.0 -
something that jumped out at me, you have a £2000 car yet are spending £77 a month (£924 a year) to insure it, have you got any points? had any acidents? as these seems a massive amount to be spending, have you looked into dropping your insurance to third party only or third party fire and theft to try and save some money?
take into account any excess costs if you do write the car off when working out if you will be better off, if you think a £2000 car will give you ~£1500 if you write it off, if you then have a excess oif 400-500 which some companies do have you would only get £1000 from them which is the same amount that you are paying out a year to insure it!
My insurance probably looks high because it includes business cover too. I have a really low excess (£100) and have protected my no claims which adds a bit too. It's really important to me that if my car was involved in an accident i would be able to get back on the road quickly and at little cost to me. My insurance company also offer a courtesy car if mine is in the garage although this is pretty standard on most policies.
I'd rather leave it at fully comp because if my car was written off and i was only third party i couldn't then afford a new one and the business would then go under if i didn't have a car.
I don't have any points nor have i had any accidents. The cost is £876 per year - or £73 a month, i was looking at the wrong thing when i wrote £77.0
