Delivery problem - Famac & QVC

Hi there, I have a problem with QVC regarding late delivery & also poor service from Famac. Hope someone can help me out.
I bought an item from QVC on Friday 19th august which according to their website was shipped on weds 23rd August. QVC said that delivery takes 5-7 working days from payment (although they didn't take money till AFTER they shipped it?
).
I rang them on Friday past (8th) to cancel my order under the Distance Selling Regs(?) as it had not arrived within the stated time but they said that they couldn't cancel it as it was on its way to me. I said that it was too late & I no longer needed the item. I asked if I could give it back to the delivery man & she said that I could refuse delivery & Famac would automatically return it to them & that signatures etc were not necessary - I'd asked her what I needed to do/sign.
She also said that as I don't live on mainland GB, then the 5-7 days thing doesn't count & that Monday 11th (today) was the last day for delivery. I'm not sure about these calculations though & I certainly wasn't aware about the extra time when I placed my order.
Well I crossed my fingers & hoped that the delivery would NOT be today but guess what - it's arrived!
Now I have a 2nd issue. I saw an unmarked van (white!) pull up outside & a guy jumped out while the driver went to turn the van. I went to get my keys but by the time I opened the door, the van had gone! However there was a parcel worth over £100 sitting on my doorstep in full view of the street! I think that's really shoddy service! What would I do if I hadn't noticed the van or hadn't been at home & the thing got stolen? Anyway it now looks like I'm going to have to pay postage for something that's no good as it's too late.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do? I really do not want this item now & I do not want to have to pay out 2 sets of postage charges.
Thanks

Have a read at the existing Famac thread : HERE
I hope you manage to get a resolution for your problem. I have found from past experience that so many people have complained regarding Famac and the service rerceived that more and more companies on the mainland are aware and therefore, they use other means to deliver the goods.
Have a look at Consumer line as well, to see if they can help you.
Good Luck!0 -

Thanks arkonite_babe - I'll ring them 2moro
Thanks dan2002. Good idea & i'd like to try this but a bit nervous about my rights regarding the number of days - i make it 14 working days last friday - assuming that pymt was taken on the 1st working day after I ordered it. ie i ordered it on sat 19th & am assuming that pymt taken on Monday 21st, day one being tues 22nd.
Can they even "enforce" these extra days? it dosn't say anything on the tv or the orderline about it.
If it works, do you think they'll refund the 1st lot of postage (for delivery)?0 -
Hi WBH,
I know that if you kick up enough fuss with QVC they will send out free postage invoice. I am a member of a shopping forum and have read about customers getting this sent to them for various reasons. As was said before, stick to your guns!Norn Iron Club Member No 1050
