Nationwide suit hire?

Hi All

I know this has probably been asked time and time again but how are people co-ordinating getting the suit hire - is it best to get it from a nationwide retail shop? If so, which ones? (I'm in the Reading/Berkshire area)

Any recomendations or horror stories very welcome please!

Thanks!

  • The only nationwide chains i know of is Moss Bros and Slaters (http://www.slaters.co.uk/en/links/formalhire/)

I used Tux N Tails (http://www.tuxntails.co.uk/Locations.html) who were very good; but they only have branches in the south

We used a local independent tailor. He was brilliant as the prices were similar to Moss Bros but the boys had a couple of fittings and he does alterations on hire suits! Really good for us as we had a 5'4 best man and a 6'4 groomsman! We were also able to pick the suits up a week before the wedding which was reassuring. No last minute panics. :)

We're in Essex so the one we used isn't in your area but worth a call to a few tailors to see if they do hiring.

Not sure if Etiquette are nationwide, http://www.i-do.uk.com/Main/Default.aspx
I'm in the North East and know a few people who have used them for weddings.
H2B has used them when he was best man and also hired a tuxedo from them for
a ball, both times he was happy with the suits.

Just had another thought, H2B has used Burton's in the past, also for a tuxedo which he was happy with.
Debenhams also do hire, not used then though so don't know what they are like. I've just looked and they have some offers at the moment.
    Hope this helps x

Thanks everyone for the replies, you've been a great help.

I think I'll pop into debenhams this week as it seems the easiest option and closest - fingers crossed as need to hire 6 outfits!

When my stepson was married he got suit hire from Debenhams. He and his best man were in Oxford, we are in Hastings, but my husband got the same one!

We arent using Moss Bros purely because they wouldnt let us collect more that a day or so in advance.
Debenhams and Burtons are the same company for hire, I believe Burtons concession in Debenhams organises the suit hire? I could be completely wrong about that. We did like the Debenhams suits but top of our list is 1860. They had a perfect fitting suit and the right colours, and you can collect 10 days before so if anything was wrong you had time to change it.

My friend used Moss Bros last year, collected the day before and 1 pair of shoes was a size too big and 2 of the trousers were wrong waist and length sizes. In the end the Groom had to wear the Best Mans trousers and they made do!! I'd hate for that to happen at my wedding!

    We used Greenwoods (1860)
The groom chose the outfit, then the bestman and ushers went to their local stores to be measured. All the outfits arrived in our nearest store two days before the wedding. Everything went fine, and the best man returned all the outfits to his local store the day after the wedding.
Using a national company made our lives easier as the wedding party lived quite far apart and it'd have been a nightmare to get everyone together for fittings.
