oh is stretched to the limit financially as well, tbh adding the £6409 on to the mortgage and increasing the monthly amount (probably about another £50 a month I think) and me giving dh the £100 would help him out as well as me.0

but I do need to tackle that cc debt and not just keep paying the minimum amount.
£100 is the minimum, I think its probably a bit more this month tbh0 -
have you cut the cards up?
another thing to say is that wht have you got to sell? Clothes, text books? anything at all, get on ebay, car boot and get any money from that to the credit cards
Also what about HCA bank shifts. Round here they pay quite well, could you get into anything like that for the odd weekend etc? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
hi,I know you said that you have applied to do "bank" and waiting for this to be processed.Do you mean with the NHS bank? If this is the case I'd also try the nursing agencies whom offer bank shifts as they do not seem to take more than a couple of weeks. Also it might not help now but the two years will pass really quickly. I remember tin peas with dry bread when I was a student nurse.unneccesary spend challege £10 this week £4 petrol for day out0

Ive just about maxed out the card, so theres only £98 left on it which I might use towards the catalogue.
Ive already done 3 car boot sales, have sold all I can, that kept us going till the end of the summer hols.
Thanks for the tip about the nursing agencies, will definately look into that.
I could cope with peas a bread but I dont think my 2 kids could lol:)
thanks again for th advice its much appreciated.
OH is in the process of trying to claim back years of unclaimed charges from his bank so that shoud help if they pay up.0 -
After all the advice yesterday, I went to see someone about finance today, I explained the situation and they were very helpful, hopefully something will come out of it.
Im car sharing, Im giving lifts to a group of people in the mornings to cover my petrol and parking costs.
Im not spending any money at all in the day, I take a flask of coffee, bottle of water and sandwiches.
Im baking a cake to put some in my sons lunch box tomorrow instead of going to the shop and buying stuff as I usually would.
Small steps but it all helps.
OH is in the process of claiming bank charges back from his bank.
Still not sure how to tackle the credit card though.0 -

Will definatly speak to student services as I may be entitled to the hardship grant as its not just means tested but also takes into account outgoings, fingers crossed they can help.
HSBC have a 0% interest student account with a £1000 overdraft (I think), will look into that as you say I could put £1000 of cc debt onto that.
£83 left on the credit cardso I could pay off a bit more of the £600 next catalogue with that.
Will speak to my bank about reducing the % on the cc btu dont hold out hope as its Lloyds.
Thanks for the advice so far
If you get the 0% overdraft you could pay off the catalogue. Even if it is only for a year it will give a little breathing space as it will reduce your minimum monthly outgoings for the next 12 months.
Alliance and Leicester also offer a 0% overdraft for a year - if you apply for an account via quidco you get £30 or £50 cash back too.0
