If I cancel a new car loan will I still be able at an

Hi All,

I just bought a Ford Focus ST. It's gorgeous and when I went to see it I felt really happy. The sales man went through all the loan stuff and it all came back OK. Paperwork is all done (just waiting for the signed copies to comeback from the loan company, which I think is black horse). That was on Saturday but last night, and all today, my stomach has been churning because I've realised the car is just not "me", I've made a mistake. It's a hooliwagon!!

I haven't taken delivery yet as they're going to service it on Monday but I was intending to collect it Monday afternoon.

I'm pretty certain I can cancel the loan without to much trouble but my question is this.... can I still get another car loan elsewhere on Monday or do I need to wait a while?

you may not be able to cancel if its been signed already by them, you dont have a cooling off period on retail premises.

    Hi,

PNP is correct. If an HP agreement is signed on trade premesis then there is no cooling off period or right to cancel, however, they may be able to move the finance from the car you have purchased to another one that you may choose. (would need to be from same dealership and at the same price)

If they sent you the loan paperwork in the post then as far as I'm aware you have 7 days from when you receive the paperwork to cancel.... it could be different now though I remember that from a case I was working on last year so double check.

Sounds from the OP's post it was signed on premises.

I expect by now the OP is sitting in a layby being grilled by the Police while a dog sniffs out some dope. :)

We need the OP to clarify whether he signed the loan agreement on the premises really.. that's going to be the deciding factor!

OP might be having a laugh at the replies - he hasn't been back to answer any questions has he?
