    HI taxi
I don't usually post here but just happened to notice your post...
I'm still up at stupid o clock too, just started another round of chemo after a year (melanoma) and don't sleep for 3 night after with those drugs!

Glad you seem to be finished? Hope all goes well.

I had a great result last time so fingers crossed again!

    Just wanted to say hello!

not too many side effects at all taxi, thanks.
No we never know what the future holds, but we must hang on the the fact that many, many people are cured/live with cancer which is managed through treatments.
I have had 2 lots of radical surgery, and now am a monitor and treat if/when neccesary patient.
I attend the main treatment centre for west of scotland and it was all a new world to me..I am shocked at the amount of young people affected!
In my chemo ward today there was 2 girls at least 20 years younger than me (Im 45 and tto hought I was young at the beginning)

I am seeing a counsellor to try and help with negative thoughts at the moment.
Sometimes things happen in life, which really put things into perspective, like the 2 girl students killed just before Christmas when the driver of a range rover left the road and ploughed into them, driver later diagnosed with epilepsy he didn't know he had.
I was so sad for them having a Daughter the same age.
I don't mean to sound like other peoples misfortune makes me feel better about myself...just sometimes we don't know what is round the corner, so why worry about what might or might not happen?

I am glad you are through it all, sounds like you had some side effects! Look after yourself taxi x

I agree that it's amazing how many younger people get cancer but treatments change all the time.

I remember that accident on the news..it was very tragic but never said about the bloke having epilepsy...so the poor bloke has the guilt to deal with as well as his illness.

i know where you're coming from about other peoples misfortunes..their is always someone worse off than us.

The side effects I had were pretty normal for the treatments I've had for breast cancer.

Hope the counselling works for you and pop by here anytime...everyone is welcome.Take care x

Hey Troy those steroids were really something else weren't they? I could sing & dance all night on them. Then there was the come down...... I found (I'm late 40's) everyone at the hospital was so much older than me & appeared to be so much sicker. Although I must say that having cancer is a bit like the common cold these days as so many people have it or everyone knows at least 3 people who have it. Makes you wonder what's going on. Ah well we live to fight another day. Wishing you all the best with your treatment.

    Hi Duke!
yes me too! I am lucky if I got 2 hours sleep last night and not a very good one at that. I know the routine now... maybe 3-4 hours sleep tonight then 5 3rd night...then get back to normalish sleep followed by the come down! I'm not a very nice person on them too and shout constantly at hubby :( ah the joys!

I agree it seems to be on the increase..or are the just better at detecting now? who knows!

I take it you have been there and hope you are well XX

Hi Troy - it's almost 2 years since I was diagnosed & whilst I feel physically almost back to normal, mentally I feel battered. I'm on the heart pills (thanks to Herceptin) & the Tamoxifen which the oncologist says will bring me down but it'll also give me a better chance. So now my menopause keeps me awake at night & I can be so evil with it too :o All the same it's a small price to pay .... & everyone has been so lovely & kind to me, thank you. Is it your second lot of treatment that you're having?

I was just wondering if either of you have been to the Look Good Feel Better Workshop?

Hi Taxi, sorry to hear you're even more nocturnal than normal. You sound chirpy though, so hope things settle down soon.

Think it was Troy who said it, but my sister was an oncology nurse in the US and said that cancer is not the death sentence that it used to be and in more cases it's now a chronic illness, as everyday there are more advancements.

So many people are living longer too - my uncle passed away before Christmas aged 82 and he'd had C in his late 40's too - so there *is* hope :)
    Take care lovely ladies xxx
