I wanna buy a PS2 - can't find one!

Hi, i need to buy my son a new PS2 as his has been acting up and then last week i knocked it off the cupboard and won't play anything at all!
Have looked at lots of places online but they either seem to not sell them anymore or the places that do are all out of stock! Have looked on ebay but they are selling new ones at v high prices and don't want a second hand one.

Just wondering has anyone bought one lately and from whom? Or if you've seen them advertised? I have one very unhappy 8 year old on my hands at the moment Thanks! x

We have got three in our house, two of which have been bypassed for Xboxes. ~Will have to see if son's want to sell them on ebay.

It'll be hard finding a new ps2 since they haven't been manufacturing them for years. Either buy a used one, which will still work perfectly well or its time to upgrade to the newest consoles.

Considering you can get a xbox 360 arcade for £120 I don't think paying £99.99 for a system that is over a decade old is much of a bargain. And if you think the games are too expensive for the newest systems then just buy the games that have been out for a few years which can will be about £10 and can offer 100 times the gameplay of the older systems.

they still make them, its just not retailed as much as the ps3/xbox/wii but they are still available

Thanks for all your fast replies. I have looked at the sites mentioned but unfortunately they are out of stock! I reckon it will have to be a second hand one after all. We only bought this one last year but can't find receipt or remember where we got it from!
I agree it is out of date but our 8 and 5 year olds have about 50 games and they are all good fun, i find the other consoles don't have the same selection for their ages personally. We do have a wii but all prefer the ps2 games. Would love a ps3 but too much money at the moment!

Deals on the PS2 come up every now and again but I can't find any recently unfortunately. If you do end up going down the second hand route, consider CEX who have various consles on offer and they all come with a 12 month guarantee.

Try a carboot sale I got a ps2 with 12 games 2 memory cards and 2 controllers (one remote) for £20
