question for you

I am in a Debt Repayment arrangement with Paylink , I have three accounts that I put my monthly pay into and use for Food shopping bills etc

Now my situation has improved , I am seriously thinking of taking out a credit card to use in emergency situations only - any thoughts as to whether this is a good idea or not

Comments

  • I wouldnt do it, the temptation would be to great. And then you would be back to square 1 again
  • that was my initial thought and thansk for confirming it
  • I wouldn't do it either. Think back to when you got a credit card before, and think, was that for emergencies too???? and now you're in a DMP. My credit card was for "emergencies" and look at my sig!!!

  • I think the next step is to build up your savings and then you can use them in an emergancy so you wouldnt need a credit card!

How did you get into debt in the 1st place? Were loans and ccards involved? How do you manage at the moment for emergencies? If you really MUST get one I'd seriously suggest you freeze it in a block of ice so that it really only can be used for emergencies!!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Can you obtain credit when on a DMP? I would'nt have thought so. Even if you can I would avoid it like the plague! That's just my personal opinion.....

  • BAD idea! you might take it out with good intentions but it won't stay that way!

You would probably be breaking the terms of your DMP agreement as well, it’s pretty standard for them to ask that you don’t take out further credit whilst on the DMP
