anyone heard of centralstudios?

Hi,
I got a call saying I had won 2nd prize in a competition. it was for a photoshoot and makeover. had to pay £30 pp for a friend and myself as a deposit which is refundable. I am assuming they are going to make the money by charging me on the photos. just wondering if anyone has ever won a competition by them. and are the photos any good? and how much do they charge for the photos. I saw some previous threads about studio 64. but has anyone heard of central studios? would be grateful if anyone would be able to shed some light. thanks.

If you have to pay for a prize its not worth winning. Can't remember the name of the company but a few years back, my wife did a survey and later found we had won a photshoot inc a print but just had to pay an admin fee (£25?). They took lots of pics and we chose one,but then the pressure came to buy others, in the end we just walked out.

Course this one might be legit....

  • I Personally would be very wary of paying money to receive a prize. If you really want a photoshoot I'd shop about first.
  • It's probably all to do with the same company. Also the word Deposit is a bit off putting. They are basically saying that at the end of the make over you can either redeem that deposit against the price of some pics or if you don't want any pics they keep it. So it's not really a prize at all.

These photo ones are all a bit dodgy I would advise everyone to avoid them! A couple of my friends won some similar prize a while back (or maybe they signed up for it in the street, I can't remember). They went along, got their photos done, and one of the them decided ahe wanted the photos which of course cost hundreds. In the end they both took photos which they had to borrow money for, and ended up regretting the whole thing.

About a yr ago I too was told I had come 2nd in a competition like this, but I am always suspicious so turned it down, as nice as it wouldbe to have these photos taken and look beautiful for a day, I don't want to pay hundreds for the pleasure!
  • I also have recent experience of this one. you are called to say you have won 2nd prize you've won a makeover and photo shoot.I found it dubious as they asked for 30 quid "deposit". I asked for their registered address and website they gave me a website https://www.centralstudios.info which has no info at all ,no traceable stuff at all,the phone number takes you back to the call centre who rang you in the first place.the person on the phone said it was only a "temporary website" hence lack of info
I said I would think about it and once I received a confirmation letter I'd get back to them, however they won't send any confirmation until they receive the deposit. so they expected me then to give them my debit card details over the phone.......no thanks. if you have to pay it isn't a prize, they also wouldn't tell me which prize draw it was and who ran it as normally I would go back to the hosts to complain.

Hey we got that call earlier aswell.I enter them womens comps for the other half so they asked for her but she couldn't remember what they called themselves but she said they wanted £30 deposit. It's somewhere in Oxford St aswell they said. She said call back tomorrow morning so i'll just ingnore it as i always put my mobile number into comps including hers.

You're right though they said you get a photo and make over for free but they then expect you to pay for other photo's they have taken.I will either ignore the call tomorrow or just tell them to **** off...lol

I wouldnt bother with it if you have to pay some money - any good comps mean you dont have to pay for anything!

I had a call from them a few weeks ago, they have been around in one form or another for years, when you go on the day they give you the hard sell apparently and I mean hard, stay away I would say ;)
