Eat it or bin it?

Options
Hi - I forgot to put what was left of my lamb shoulder joint in the fridge last night before I went to bed. It came out of the oven about 6.30pm last night and I "discovered" it this morning at about 6.30am. So it had been out for twelve hours. It was loosely wrapped in a food bag and was slightly rare around the bone. Do I take my chances? I was going to make some kind of rice pilaf thingy with it.

  • I would eat it, if you're really unsure, then don't but I've done similar things to this and it's fine

  • Eat it so long as you only reheat it once and then very thoroughly.
  • I'd eat it ;)

Does it look and smell ok? If it does, and you are going to be cooking it, then yes, i would eat it. If its a bit wiffy, or you want to eat it as it is then i wouldnt risk it.
  • I'm at work at the mo so will give it a good sniff when I get home. I'm not in an at risk group and it wasn't particularly hot last night so I am tempted to just get on with it. I'll let you know if I am still alive tomorrow!

I would slice it up and then recook it for a minimum of 20 minutes just enough to kill those little suckers (bacteria).

No amount of money saving is worth having food posioning.

    I know - Ive been there :( .
