As part of our Sandals weddingmoon, we have to send Virgin notarized (stamped by a solicitor with a stamp that clearly shows they are a solicitor in red or blue ink) photocopies of our documents. Has anyone else had to do this, and how much did it cost? We have to get both our birth certificates stamped, as well as OH's decree absolute.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/2017

  • Ring around, solicitors will charge from £5-£25 per document + VAT. There isn't a set price for it.

Notaries are qualified lawyers but not all solicitors will be Notary Publics, which they must be to notarise your documents. Contacting your local solicitor is an easy starting place but do make sure they are Notary Publics. Or you could just google 'notary public west sussex' and get hits for probably loads of them!

Our notary charges £45 per document. Definately recommend ringing around!

Don't suppose you've recently used a firm of solicitors for buying a house or anything? Or your OH's divorce one - how long ago was that?

We needed some documents stamped too in relation to the wedding, and were buying a house at the time. Phoned our solicitor firm and they said oh, just pop in, we'll do that for free for you. :money:

OH has used a firm for buying a house, but it was a couple of years ago. Have emailed them to enquire anyway. Thanks for the tip.

Had the email through from the solicitors on Monday, that I'd emailed asking for a quote, and they want to charge £150 +VAT for 3 documents. Definitely going to be ringing around now!

Can i just say that when you actually get married, please get more than one copy of your marriage certificate! If you ever need a replacement in the future you will have to get it from Jamaica, which may not be the easiest thing to do!

Can't help about the documents though, but have a fab time!
