Getting a thesis published

Hi there,
my brother in Germany successfully published his dissertation/thesis and is selling in via Amazon. I think he sells it for €24.99 per copy and received about €500 every 6 months.
My partner has written a dissertation in 2008 and since we are trying to make a bit of an extra income while he's looking for a job, I suggested getting published. Had a brief search on the internet but haven't come up with any good results. Does anyone know how to go about this best?
Thank you in advance.

Places like lulu will do it.

There can be a fine line between self-publishing and vanity publishing, so check terms very carefully.

Sounds like a great idea, perhaps you should contact Amazon customer service and ask for information.

http://www.blurb.com/create/book/pricing This is a self publishing site. They do black and white books from £2.95 each. I've never actually used them but they do have a charity section so they can't be all bad!

Lulu can add your books (& ebooks) onto amazon automatically (.com version anyway) & if you pay for an isbn iirc

Hhhmmm...I'd imagine with a thesis, the first thing to consider would be the audience. How many people will it appeal to? It would either have to have mass appeal, or be original enough to be of interest to a niche market. I know for instance that it wouldn't be worth paying to have mine published, as while it's in a niche area, it's not original enough to be of much interest to academics, and a bit macabre for your average joe (was on medieval perceptions of death - cheery, eh? lol). A friend of mine, though, is looking to get hers published, but hers is very different and original, so she has a unique selling point as it were.

    Am I making sense?

I have an interesting set of 1st Class papers which could be of worth to a few people, however they are freely available from the University Library.
Although it would be nice to make money from them, at 16,000 words total (10,000 essay, 6,000 in appendices) each it would be hard to make a return for such papers which might only be worth a few pounds, not £24.99 !! - about 50 A4 pages with unique photographs and illustrations.

How much is an ISBN code?

found the relivent page - it's included part of most of their options (and according to the site at least one of them includes amazon uk as well as US)

I haven't used them to publish anything (only bought books from them) so don't know what they're like from that end, but what I ordered were good quality books/bookazines.

This is interesting. I've always fancied writing a book on upgrading/maintaining your PC, now I'm unemployed I have the time to learn how to use Scribus (a very complex DTP program).
