New Bank Account for DMPer?

Trying to sort everything out, have o/d with current bank and want to put this on DMP and open a new a/c where we don't owe money. I like to have a local branch and living in hicksville it doesn't give much choice. Having had so many problems with Lloyds in the past - and them making the debt problem so much worse with all their charges - I am put off banks. We have a Nationwide branch - and their flex account looks like it would be fine but how likely are we to be accepted with debt problems? Ideally we'd like to have a few little accounts in the same place to 'piggy bank'.

I would recommend a basic account with someone else totally - like the Co-operative for example.0

Thanks, had a quick look - a standard current a/c looks fine for direct debits etc and perhaps their Cashminder for piggy banking.
How would I go about paying in cheques though - do they provideenvelopes or can I go into another bank?:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD

If you speak to them yourself then they'll be able to answer any questions you have & what account would be right for you etc...0

Opt for a basic bank account this won't involve a credit check and won't have an overdraft (which you are not allowed on a DMP). List of all basic accounts (on page 5) http://www.moneymadeclear.org.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf0
