Does anyone here make cake toppers type things for fun that might like a bit of extra cash?!
I had one made for a friends birthday cake but the maker has somehow taken artistic license to a whole new level and it isnt what I wanted AT ALL!
Course now the party is only a week away and i'm panicking!
If anyone does, or knows someone please PM me! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE!

Afraid I'm not good enough to sell but I've made a few effective cake toppers in the past:
- Glue fake flowers onto a round disk (I used a glue gun to glue paper flowers in a nice arrangement onto a Pringles lid which was then placed on middle of cake).
- Make cake jewellery (attach bead to piece of wire, repeat as many times as required, use wire to hold pieces in arrangement (I did fountain type arrangement). Make hole in cake, wrap wires in clingfilm then put in hole.
- Make figurines/objects using marzipan/icing. I've got a few good ideas from clay/fimo projects.
Sorry, I can't seem to find any photos but if you need a clearer explanation just get back to me.
If you are interested in making your own (very impressive & professional looking) cake toppers and you have more time in future I recommend Lindy Smith's books. I made the cake jewellery using instructions in one of her books.
Hope you manage to resolve your problem soon.Making small changes everyday....0 -

.
Please please please, don't do this!
If you want to use cake jewellery, please make sure that you use something called a posy pick to put in the cake to protect it from the wires.
Some wires contain lead, and cling film doesn't protect enough to stop wires sticking into cakes; and possibly introduce foreign bodies into the cake.
I'm a cake maker, and make toppers for cakes. Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -

Thanks Laurajayne. When I made mine I used a posy pick. I thought due to time constraints that clingfilm might be easier but obviously hadn't considered safety issues. Will know better for next time
