hi, everything will be fine. Both me and OH have had to endure this. From our experience we took our forms and CASH for the BR fee and paid at the cashiers office. Have you double checked everything on your forms? Have you made sure all your debts are listed? The cashier will then take your money and check briefly the forms. They will ask you if you have taken advise, and that you understand what you are doing.
We were then told to wait in the corridor, about 45 mins later a court offical walked towards us and handed us a stamped form. He said thats everything, your now BR. They give you a telephone number and address of your offical receiver and tell you the OR will be intouch within the next 2/3 days.
Remember any bank account that has cash in will be closed over the next few days, have you set up another basic account? Co-op, barclays and some lloyds allow them. Have you notified anyone who pays you e.g. wages, tax credits etc that you have a new account. You dont want the OR to get any money you have, do you!!!
If theres any cash in your bank account, i would remove it before you go into the court.
And after its all done , a nice cup of tea/ coffee will make you feel better!!
Best wishes and good luck in your new debt free life!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi everyone, just got back from court appointment was at 9.30 am we were made br 10.02am.got there early at 9.00 sat in the dark in the waiting room till we were called to the desk, it was a bit embarrassing having to swear the oath in front of people but never mind!! we then went to the judges waiting room then after about 25 mins went to the lady judge who was really nice and just asked us if we understood what we were doing which we did. got sent back to the first waiting room then got the stamped form to say we were br and that the or would be in touch soon and that was it.. in all was pretty easy really and not what i thought it would be.
having to go to barclays tomorrow for new account then have to ring around to change bank details with child benefit and wifes wages etc
thanks0 -
Glad it went ok for you.Did they make you swear the oath in front of everyone. Thought you might have some privacy.0

Glad the court day went well for you and that parts now over. I think we build up in our minds how awful it will be when usually it turns out to be the opposite!
Good luck with everything now and thanks for sharing.0 -

We had to swear the oath at the counter, with people just behind us waiting their turn! No privacy for us, but might be different depending on which court you atend.0 -
Glad it went OK for you

By the way Lloyds will not allow BR`s to open an account with them, and not all accounts with cash in them are closed.:pB&SC No. 298

I had to swear the oath at the counter but there was no-one else there fortunately.“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0 -
Just a quick point - with the new B/R papers - which I guess will be in full force when the old ones run out... although you can download the new ones now.
You sign a "Statement of Truth" - on the SOA - so more "swearing"0 -
glad it went ok for you, hard bit out of the way now....all the best0
