MBNA have cut a load of staff....

.... mostly from collections - over 60 positions from there alone.

Not really relevant to money saving I expect, but people will either get less calls, or more from the outsourced offices in India.

Frontline customer service is also being hit - so dont expect any courteous people if you need to call.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Well, they shouldn't lose foolish court cases and stuff like this wouldn't happen. Ask Lynne Thorius.

Fine with me. Besides, call centres are of no purporse - they irritate and exist solely to fob customers off, and for no other reason beyond that (believe me, I've worked in plenty!). I believe that any company that uses call centres have contempt for their customer base.

If I have to deal with a company in any capacity (unless it's an absolutely life-or-death urgent problem), I do it in writing or online.

And nothing to do with MBNA can possibly be urgent or life-or-death.

    And I fully agree!
