I always use Asda Smart Price. I stocked up when they were reduced for changed packaging (:D). I think it's 74p for 800g. Not so long ago it was 50p for 1kg:eek:

Somerfields that have changed to Co-Op are selling the Somerfield brand at half price at the moment (while stock lasts). I got the super concentrated (20 wash) for £1.19.

I was using concentrated liquids but washing machine repair man recommended old fashioned box powder as the liquids don't contain bleaches. I then tried Aldi's own brand as recommended elsewhere on this forum. It seems to be as good as the major brands. In the past I have found all supermarket own brands were less effective and the clothes needed a freshener with a major brand every 4 - 5 washes. I am working through Aldi's and find the biological best at the moment. Perhaps more knowledgeable contributors to this forum could comment on brighteners and bleaches. My principal for all shopping is to start with the cheapest and work up the price bands until I find the one I like.
    stay lucky!

Just been looking at a comparison of the own brands article from Prima July 2009 (page 64), I'm a bit dubious about putting the results on here because I'm not familiar ith copyright etc. but I was left with thinking I'll be going out to get..
    Lidl W5 dishwasher tablets,
Aldi Magnum Ultimate concentrated washing up liquid,
A choice of Sainsbury's aqua all purpose cleaner (or Lidl's W5 'cos its the cheapest)
I don't need their recommendation for Lidl's Floralys toilet rolls as we get Kirkland.
    Lidl's Floralys Kitchen roll,
    Lidl's Formil Non-Bio Washing powder
and Lidl's W5 Bleach, or Aldi's power force bleach.

This article, as I said was a comparison of own brands, so none appear to have been up against known brands.

ASDA have their 4kg own brand 2in1, colour and non bio on offer at the moment, £4 a box, cheaper than the 2.4kg boxes :)

I can never go past Lidl's Formil non-bio. Have been using it for years, because of DH's sensitive skin (bless!) and find it's really good.
  • I always buy Aldi concentrated liquid wash (they do bio and non-bio) but last week Sainsbury's were selling Surf wash tablets with essential oils at half price so I grabbed a couple of boxes of those instead. 18 tablets for around £1.25 ish (forget exactly!) Don't know whether the offer is still on though - will be going today, shall have a look!

  • I use Asda's own colour branded washing powder but do find although it smells nice it is not getting rid of stains on my 10 month old daughters clothes! Its not bad stains either just bits of banana etc - anyone have any tips??
