NDL or CCCS?

After several months of following all advice and getting to a point I have changed bank accounts to safe bank, defaulted on payments arranging £1 token payments and now getting letters threatening to take me to court etc etc I am now looking to do a Debt Releif Order and wondered who was best to use between NDL or CCCS?

The same with my hubby but we cannot do a joint DRO as it would take us over the limit so we need to do 2 separate ones. My only income is IB and the Tax Credits that hubby has paid to me towards the priority bills most of which I pay via DD and food. Hubbys only other income is his Self Employment which brings in less than £2,000 a year and his seasonal job which brings in around £1,500 a year. He keeps this income for himself and I pay the bills and buy the food with my IB and the Tax credits. As we arnt paying the creditors anymore we are just breaking even hence the DRO.

I have 2 separate safe bank accounts so one has the Tax Credits income which I do not touch as its also the one that pays the household bills via DD / cash. The other safe bank account has the IB paid into in which is used for the food shopping and other things. My hubbys safe banks 1 just has his income paid into it comprising of the seasonal work he does and the other 1 any income he gets from his self employed work.

Many thanks

:)

    Hi Crisp£note,

I used the consumer credit counselling service many years ago and found their information pack and assistance to be very good. The fact everything is free also helps.
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    Hi

So far since they were introduced the place that has done the most DROs is citizens advice. I know thats not actually answering your question. I would expect either would be fine (assuming NDL will do the processing of a DRO).

There is a sticky thread on DROs on the Bankruptcy board, which has some posters who have actually gone through the process, it might be worth having a look there (if you haven't already).:)

I have been as far as my local Citizens advice could help me, they then refered me to NDL who are also free but I have seen CCCS on here and both NDL and CCCS have recomended a DRO for me in the past which is why I went to CAB! I have completed the forms for them both but now need to chose which one to use for me and hubby. :o Im so confused!

Hedge your bets and go for one of each :D

But it does all sound a bit confusing -I was under the impression CAB actually did the whole process, but have hardly come across anyone who has done one yet so don't fully understand it all to be honest.

There aren't huge numbers of approved intermediaries - even within the CAB. My bureau has four but I do know some that do not have one. I guess then they would have to refer to another provider.

My local CAB had one who they drafted in but once we had done the basics and figured out a DRO was the correct route they suggested we went to NDL or travelled quite a distance to see a free advisor where the waiting list was very very long.

I wondered if either NDL or CCCS would take over for me so I dont have the headache or stress from creditors or would I still have to do it myself with their help and guidance?

I must make a decision soon as its been hanging around far too long and NDL are getting irritated with my calls cos I keep messing up the forms. Plus theres still an 8 week wait before its even assessed and I / we can apply for a DRO. I also dont know what they will make of our finncial arrangement as me and hubby are divorced in that area as thats what caued some of the problems in the first place. Tried joint accounts didnt work got in a mess. I became responsible for the bills, he has his own money. Its easier for me to take responsibility but I am not taking responsibility for his debts or his actions other than to help him through a DRO via his S O A. Nothing will change hubby been 10 years so just got to plan a way foward that will work rather than looking back and pointing the finger!

    Thanks :)
