Advice Please !

Following a relationship breakdown, I have finally plucked up the courage to contact CCCS and am awaiting the DMP information pack. I am also in the process of opening a new bank account. I have been with my current bank, Lloyds TSB for approx 12 years and I have a loan and a small overdraft with them. I am not behind with any payments yet but I know they will ring and ask why I want to close my account and move to another bank. I have had no problems with them so far and don't really want them to know I am about to enter a DMP until the other account is up and running. What should I give as my reasons for moving my accounts ??
Any advice gratefully received !!

Hi
You do not ring and ask to close the account.
You open a new account, move everything over, income and expenditure, then write, registered post and tell them to close it.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi,
No I am not going to ring them, but as they ring often asking me to go for reviews and stuff, I would not be surprised if they ring to ask if there is a problem as I am moving banks. The new bank are going to move all my direct debits etc across to my new account, but I don't know what to give as a reason if Lloyds ask me why I am doing it ?0 -
if you have written to tell them you are closing the account, you do not need to explain why you want to leave them. Just decline to discuss with them. DO you actually go for reviews? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Hi Fergie55,
If they call again, politely tell them you only wish to be contacted by letter in future and if they don't accept this cancel the call. If they continue to call/harass you by telephone regarding the impending debts from the loan and overdraft, then send the letter below.
Dear Sirs,
Account No: XXXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls and I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine. Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company may be recorded and used in evidence and I expect this harassment to cease immediately.
Yours faithfullyIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
