Hello everyone,
My lovely mum is getting married on Saturday and as the photo nerd I am taking the pics.. so, a little help please.
What photo's would you like to have on your big day? A close up of the rings? your shoes? a pic of you walking down the aisle?
I want to make it perfect for my mum and just want some opinions on what pictures people look for as I'm a bit nervous now

I have asked her, but she just said as many as you can take, but I think it's because she's a bit stressed about it all lol.
Other wedding portfolio's is a great idea, where do I find them?9/70lbs to lose

I would say walking down the aisle, ceremony pics, signing of registrar, leaving together, cutting cake, pics of all family, pics of us with bridesmaids, bride family, groom family.Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

2010 wins: approx £2198
2011 wins value so far: approx £650

I took the photos for a friend recently, because they could't afford a photographer at all.
I arrived at the church early and took photographs of the church sign, and the outside of the church before everyone arrived.
Then I went in and met the vicar, and he advised me of the best vantage points for the photos.
Then I took photos of the empty pews - looking straight down the aisle - an empty church is so atmospheric.
I took more photos of the pews after the guests had arrived, so that the happy couple had a view of their guests.
I took a photo of the bride at the door to the church, and a closer one as she approached the walk down the
aisle - then more during the service - of hand holding, candle lighting etc.
Then I left the church before the happy couple and took photographs of them as they came out, followed by
their family and friends.
This was for a wedding blessing, so there was no register signing or anything - but if you are using a digital camera,
I would just click away to your hearts' content and then let your mum choose her favourite ones. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
Thanks for that, especially about leaving the church early.
Yeah, I've got a semi-professional DSLR camera, so I'm fairly confident in my ability to take the pics, just never done a wedding before, more of an urban photographer lol.
I'm sure it'll be fine, I have 2 batteries, 2 memory cards and a little bit of talent haha.9/70lbs to lose

Check with the vicar/offical that flash is allowed in church or during the ceremony...usually no. So practice taking photos in low light with no flash.
Also dont take photos with people looking into the sun..in fact always look to take group shots and portraits in shade. You dont get horrible shadows over faces and people wont be squinting either. It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
My brother was our photographer...Didn't want to waste money on a professional as many of the people we have know who have had one they've either been too posed or not great at all....
Aside from giving him a list we also wanted him to take soem natural shots as well...
So i would recommened that you also take photos when people are least expecting it..It's amazing what special photographs can come from these...:D0 -
My normal style is 'natural' and I think that's why my mum wants me to do it, she knows I love photography and she loves the photo's I already do, only in my opinion they are all buildings etc lol.
She doesn't want staged photo's at all.
The vicar is very laid back and said I can do what I want with the photo's in the church, no problem at all, although, I don't generally use a flash as I don't like the effect it gives a photo, so I'll probably manage without as the church is very light inside (luckily) lol.
Facing the sun is a good point, I'll remember that
I have photoshop to adjust them when I get home, so I just need some good shots and can saturate the colour a little later if I need to.
Eeeeeek - very nervous! But considering some of the sites I have comes across, I might be able to go part time doing wedding photography one day
Here are my pics that I usually take, if anyone is curious.. only got a Facebook site though, sorry.

I think your photos are really good - You won't have any problems with your Mum's wedding, I'm sure - your photos are much better
than the ones that I took - and I only used a standard compact.
Good Luck!! Make sure that someone takes photos of you and Your Mum too though! Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
